vwtechsaid: You need to read the oil level/Temp data in measuring blocks and post the info. This will tell you if sensor is working. Hood switch open and closed has to work. Won't reset if bad sensor or hood doesn't show open. Also service reminder reset has cleared the code for me. Year would be nice.
Properlysealing/installing the cover cured the problem in my case. To replace, remove headlight assembly, open back cover, remove headlight range control assembly. Install new headlight range control assembly, properly connect everything, properly replace covers, replace headlight assembly. Observe standard automotiveLocation Scotland. Website. www.audi.co.uk. The LEVEL sensor is part of the coolant bottle mate, If its the TEMP sensor your looking for it will vary depending on what engine you have, 1.8T will be on the right hand side (passenger) of the engine bay in a plastic housing bolted to the block. Cheers Ewan.
Seemslike a poor design. I had to take off both the front and rear driver side wheels to figure out if one was broken. I purchased a used headlight level sensor (part # 8K0941309F) off eBay. I found it impossible to get the original (broken) headlight level sensor off because I couldn't find a tool to get the top bolt undone.
