Stock S15's (and s14's) are very quite and refined engine sound wise, but that makes it sound lifeless and dull in a run of the mill BMW sort of way. Metal intake helps a lot, makes turbo wooshy noises on throttle very audible, silicon or stock rubber dampens that right out. Non VVT SR's sounds better, CA sound quite exciting.
The result is a very healthy 430 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels through a combination of a Nismo-reinforced 6-speed manual gearbox, Nismo Coppermix clutch and Nismo LSD. Road presence is achieved through a low ride height and aggressive negative camber in both the front and rear. The S15 sits on HKS Hipermax coilovers and Swift6 speed gearbox. more chassis bracing. brembo brakes. nicer interior. Spec-S has a non turbo engine with 160bhp. 5 speed gearbox. if you can afford a Spec-R and insurance etc then thats the one to have. tuning wise Chassis parts will be the same, and the Spec-R is much easier to get more power from, tuning an NA SR20 is expensive.
